DC Chief Medical Examiner announces causes of death for four of the five who died during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot:

  • Ashli Babbitt, unarmed 35-year-old Air Force veteran, died of homicide. She was shot by unnamed police officer while trying to climb through broken glass of an interior door. There is no claim that she was armed or was attacking anyone.
  • Roseanne Boyland, 34-year-old demonstrator, died of amphetamine overdose. Contrary to prior reports, she was not trampled by crowd.
  • Benjamin Phillips, 50-year-old, died of a stroke.
  • Kevin Greeson, 55-year-old, died of a heart attack.
  • Medical Examiner still has not released autopsy findings for Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Contrary to prior reports, he did not die from being hit on head with fire extinguisher. Reportedly there was no evidence of blunt force trauma.

In short, five people were not killed during the riot, as has been repeatedly claimed. Only one was killed, and she was shot by police. One overdosed, and two died of medical causes. How Officer Sicknick died has not been revealed, but reportedly he was not hit on the head.

Any death is a tragedy. But as far as we know today, the only person who was killed Jan. 6 was killed by police, and she died under circumstances that did not seem to justify the use of deadly force. All this is very far from the narrative of “five people killed during insurrection.” But I would bet serious money that the false narrative will find its way into history books. This is the bad news. The good news is that with our progressive educational system, no one will be reading history books.
