Catholicism and Judaism mean everything except their own traditional teachings. Sex means everything except men and women. Infrastructure means everything except roads and bridges. And bipartisanship means everything except elected officials from two parties working together.

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” – Alice in Wonderland, Edward Lear
- The Left in general, and President Biden in particular, twist language to mean whatever they please in order to advance their agenda.
- Biden is a practicing Catholic, but he supports abortion.
- Feminists stand for women’s rights, but they support trans women (biological males) competing in women’s sports.
- Liberals stand for workers’ rights, but they support open borders and entry of millions of low-wage immigrants.
- Progressives stand for the Bill of Rights, but they support gun confiscation and banning “hate speech.”
- China stands for communism, but it supports big businesses controlled by the state, which we used to call fascism.
- We stand for clarity, but in all these cases we pretend not to notice.
Redefining words is not merely a linguistic problem. It empowers those doing the redefining, and disempowers those who use words to mean what the dictionary says they mean. “White supremacists” are people the Left disagrees with. “Hate speech” is speech that hinders the Left’s lust for power. “Racism” is treating all people equally and being color blind. A “mainly peaceful demonstration” or “protest” can include rioting, arson, looting, and assaulting civilians and police officers. But an “insurrection” involves three hours of unarmed rioting and window breaking.
The power to redefine is the power to rule.
