What is permitted will eventually become obligatory. – Richard John Neuhaus
First we allowed sports figures to kneel for the National Anthem and disrespect the flag. Then the leftist media idolized them. Then those who did not kneel, and respected the flag, were criticized. And now a college soccer player is forced off the team for NOT kneeling.
Religious objections to kneeling except during prayer, or perhaps not even then? Who cares about religion anymore? A relative who is or was in the military, and may have been wounded or killed? Who cares about the military anymore either? In fact, who cares about individuality or personal freedom? Go with the crowd or get out! That really say it all.
The photo shows the beginning – the lone kneeler, mistaken but willing to suffer criticism. This soon devolves into the lone stander, kicked off the team. Tolerance degenerates into intolerance with surprising speed. Patriotism descends into hatred and disrespect for one’s homeland with dismaying rapidity. And here we are. What are we going to do about it? Or as lawyers say, what if anything are we going to do about it?
