Survey of college students: 73% of conservatives are proud to be an American, but 57% of liberals aren’t.
Almost all parents, teachers, and psychologists agree that it is beneficial to give young people a positive view of themselves. Hardly any would claim that it is helpful to tell kids they are born bad and must go through life by apologizing for things they never did.
Only an enemy would tell kids that their past was disgraceful and their future is doubtful. Only an enemy would tell kids they don’t deserve what they have, even if what they have is not luxurious but simply a roof over their heads and food on their tables. Only an enemy would attempt to damage their developing personalities in this way. Only an enemy would seek to undermine their self-confidence and self-image. Is this not a particularly destructive form of bullying?
Yet that is precisely what many school children and college students are being taught, not only in public schools, but also in elite private schools, and even in many religious schools. Yes, only an enemy.
