Badges? We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Badges!

• Congress refuses to enact DACA, which would legalize millions of immigrants who came as children. Obama admits he lacks power to do so, then does it anyhow by decree. Courts do nothing.

• Congress refuses to extend eviction moratorium. Biden admits he lacks power to do so, then does it anyhow by having Dr. Wilensky at CDC issue ruling.

• Dr. Fauci repeatedly contradicts himself, then insists what he says is “science,” and we must “follow the science”.

• Governors rule by decree: lockdowns, masking, church and school closures, etc. They use “state of emergency” meant to last days or weeks for natural disasters or riots. But this “state of emergency” has lasted 1½ years and shows no sign of ending.

When a president admits he lacks the power to do something, then does it anyhow, he is not admitting weakness, he is boasting of strength. When an official repeatedly contradicts himself, then without explanation insists we believe him, he is not admitting weakness, he is boasting of strength. When officials use an open-ended “state of emergency” to rule by decree, they are obviously boasting of strength.

In the classic film “Treasure of the Sierra Madre,” a gang of bandits pose as police. When challenged, they retort, “Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!” Sound familiar?
