British MP Condemns Exit From Afghanistan

Tom Tugendhat, MP,  who fought in Afghanistan and was decorated by 82nd Airborne, in speech in House of Commons:

“Those who have not fought for the colors they fly should be careful about criticizing those who have,” he snapped. He called President Biden’s actions in Afghanistan “shameful.”

Tugendhat then suggested something that would have been unthinkable before the Afghan withdrawal: that the United Kingdom, other European nations, NATO partners, and Asian powerhouses join together to handle issues across the globe without the United States.

Oh wait, I thought it was Trump who alienated our allies. But under Trump, we and the Brits continued to work together. Under Biden, the Brits suggest going on without the US. Under Biden, we exited Afghanistan apparently without considering what would happen to the Brits there.

Sometimes we have to step back to see things in perspective. Sometimes a person living abroad sees us more clearly than we see ourselves. Watch this speech. Consider what he says. He is obviously sincere, even passionate. This doesn’t prove he is correct. It does prove he is sincere, which is more than our President and Secretary of Defense can say.
