Generals: Keep Troops In Afghanistan. Biden: No.

Biden: Top generals agreed with my plan to withdraw completely from Afghanistan.
Generals: We advised President to keep 2500 to 3000 troops in Afghanistan.

So apparently it wasn’t a flock of sycophantic, neutered generals meekly agreeing to whatever half-backed plan Biden and his aides came up with. According to sworn testimony, they advised him to keep troops there, but Biden did not.

Could the generals be lying – committing perjury? Unlikely. Too many people present at the meeting, too many notes or recordings. But why did Biden disregard their advice?

• A fixed desire to have all troops out by the 20th anniversary of 9/11, for a photo-op.
• An unreasonably high estimate of his own strategic abilities.
• An unreasonably low estimate of his generals’ strategic ability.
• Pure stubbornness, a common problem with dementia.
• Inability to hear different ideas, a common problem with leftism.
• Belief that reality is in the papers on his desk, not in the outside world, a common problem with bureaucrats and politicians.

We can speculate all we want. But it appears to be incontrovertible that the President disregarded the advice of his top generals. Harry Truman had a “The Buck Stops Here” memento on his desk. On his desk Biden appears to have a memento stating “What Buck?”
