Asserting Parental Rights Is “Domestic Terrorism”?

• The bad news: Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered the FBI and Justice Department to investigate parents who protest to school boards about racist or sexual material foisted on their children. These parents may be “domestic terrorists.”

• The good news: Garland was the man President Obama nominated to the Supreme Court but the Senate refused to confirm. We barely escaped having a man who is a stranger to the Constitution with a lifetime appointment to our highest court.

• The real news: Totalitarian regimes always remove children from parental authority and force them into youth groups. Think Hitler Youth in Germany, Young Communists in Russia, Young Pioneers in Cuba, and Communist Youth League in China.

Like all cults, totalitarians distance kids from their families and insert themselves in place of parents. So when parents show up at school board meetings, it’s not just that they protest, it’s that they are there in the first place. “How dare they assert their right, their duty, to control their children’s education! Shut up, go home, and let us get on with our agenda of leftist indoctrination, premature sexualization, and racial division.”

I knew a process server. He served papers for million-dollar business lawsuits without trouble. But when he served papers for divorce and child custody, he was likely to be punched, so he waited for police backup, even if he had to wait an hour. Perhaps there is a lesson here. If you know what’s good for you, keep your hands off our kids.
