Iconic “Monty Python” comedian and actor John Cleese was scheduled to speak at the Cambridge Union. Cleese is an alumnus of Cambridge. But because of the oppressive and ever-changing woke restrictions on free speech, Cleese announced that he had canceled himself.

Too bad for Cambridge students and professors. They are missing the remarks of a brilliant comedian who has been accumulating humor and wisdom for 82 years. And too bad for all of us. Without freedom of speech, there is nothing left that is worth defending. Congratulations, leftists! You have almost succeeded in turning Western democracies into little replicas of the Soviet Union. Almost. But we ain’t done yet.
