Legalize Pot, Double Impaired Drivers

By | January 14, 2022 | 0 Comments

Report from Canada: Since British Columbia legalized marijuana, the number of drivers injured in traffic accidents who have high levels of THC in their blood has doubled.

You can talk about freeing police from pursuing minor crimes, so they can pursue major crimes. You can talk about taking money from criminals, and giving it to politicians (assuming there is any difference).

But the fact remains that we spend a good deal of our time operating dangerous machines, especially motor vehicles. We already must deal with impairment from alcohol. One need not have psychic powers to foresee that adding impairment from marijuana is not the way to improve traffic safety. And one need not be a seer to predict that this report will appear on an inner page of the paper, if it appears at all.
