When the Biden administration ordered private employers to require vaccination, they referred to it as a “work-around.” That is, they recognized that if the federal government ordered vaccination itself, it would run into serious problems. So they ordered the employers to order vaccination.

But if there is a work-around, exactly what is being worked around? Republican opposition? Protests by anti-vaxxers? Attacks by White supremacists? No, what was being worked around was the Constitution itself. This was clear to anyone who devoted a few seconds of thought to the subject. But it didn’t matter to progressives and their media mouthpieces.

Fortunately, it mattered to 6 of the 9 Supreme Court Justices. But it still was a close-run thing. Openly working around the Constitution attracted a large segment of Democratic voters, as well as 3 Supreme Court justices. A depressingly large number of Americans regard the Constitution as an obstacle to be worked around. Are you worried yet?
