Mexico has descended into a narco state. Violence is out of control. To a large degree, this is due to the fact that the US has become a giant vacuum cleaner, sucking up every gram of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and other drugs possible, then asking for more. Of course, no one mentions this fact. It would embarrass Americans and anger Mexicans. And if the US appetite for drugs decreased, the cartels would make less money. That would anger the cartels, something you really don’t want to do.
So instead of dealing with this serious problem, attention is diverted to a non problem: US-made guns in Mexico. A non problem? Yes. If the US gun industry shut down entirely, the millions of guns already in existence would serve to wreak havoc for decades. And cartel goons would use more Chinese-made AK-type rifles, which they are already using.
As part of this diversion of attention, 13 US blue states are joining Mexico in suing Smith & Wesson and other US gun manufacturers. The aim is to put them out of business. This would disarm Americans, while cartel goons would get their guns from China and elsewhere. Do you really believe the officials of these 13 states have the best interests of Americans at heart? Do you really believe that disarming citizens would strengthen democracy? Do you really believe that a government in sole possession of weapons is compatible with freedom?
