Pope Francis: “No Such Thing As Just War”

Pope Francis: “There is no such thing as a just war; they do not exist.” Contradicts centuries of Catholic teaching. Europe under the Nazis? Asia under the Japanese warlords? And now Ukraine under Putin? Don’t fight tyrants or aggressors? Who needs religion for that? It’s just apathy, laziness, and cowardice, hardly the most admirable of human traits.

Who ended slavery? It wasn’t Harriet Tubman. It was U.S. Grant and the Union Army. Who ended Nazism and the Holocaust? It wasn’t Gandhi and a flock of pacifists. It was the Allied armies. Peace and freedom aren’t free gifts. They must be purchased with blood and treasure. History demonstrates this with overwhelming clarity

“Those who love God must hate evil.” Psalm 97:10.
