State Of The Union, Or Speech From The Throne?

The Constitution requires the President to report to Congress the state of the union. It used to be in writing, now in person. But who needs a Brit-style “speech from the throne” with Supreme Court, Joint Chiefs, Cabinet, in attendance? This is too vulnerable to terrorism, too monarchical in appearance. Let the President speak from the Oval Office.
