When Europeans arrived, coyotes roamed the Southwest. Now they range from Alaska to Central Park NYC. They are the opposite of endangered. There is no reason for them to be in urban areas.
Some time ago we returned home at night and saw two coyotes in the middle of the street, tearing apart a cat, one at each end. You can have sympathy for the coyotes or for the cat, but not for both. Sympathy for both is merely apathy – saying, “Whatever”. It’s the same for two-legged predators. Sympathy implies trying to help the victim or inhibit the predator. Apathy implies doing nothing at all. And here we are.
