Hitler had the SS and the Gestapo. Mussolini had the OVRA. Stalin had the NKVD and the Ministry of the Interior. Tojo had the Kempeitai. And now we have the FBI, IRS, and ATF. We join the long, sad parade of formerly great nations that have sunk into oppression, tyranny, and censorship.

But don’t ask why. We did it to ourselves. 55% of citizens (I won’t say Americans) of both parties say the government should censor “misinformation” – as defined by, you guessed it, the government. Young people, fresh from their high school and university indoctrination, have even less regard for free speech, the cornerstone of liberty.

So just sit there on the couch, sipping Bud Light and eating Ben & Jerry’s, while you watch another sports team disrespect our flag and anthem. Not with a bang but a whimper, and barely even a whimper.
