Panasonic’s new electric battery factory in Kansas will require 200 to 250 megawatts to operate, enough to power a small city. The only readily available source is coal. Add the environmental damage of mining the lithium and other components, and the problem of disposing of old batteries, and the “green” fades to a putrid yellow. But the color of the billions that will be made remains a bright green.
There is an expression, “But on closer inspection…” It dies not apply here. Even a cursory glance reveals the major holes in the electric vehicle argument. Past time for an honest discussion.
EV battery factor will require so much energy, it needs a coal plant to power it
