Footprints in New Mexico show that humans crossed the Bering land bridge and entered the Americas earlier than had been thought, about 22,000 years ago. To scientists this is fascinating. But to deep ecologists this is depressing.
To them it would be better if humans had never arrived. They believe that the human population must be seriously reduced to “save the planet.” “The planet” apparently does not include humans. Their beliefs are frightening but not original. A famous man of the past believed exactly as they do.
