Chuck Norris was an iconic martial artist. Besides his action films, his long-lasting TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger” was a model of an action movie with no bad language, no sex scenes, muted violence, and a firm friendship with his Black partner, Clarence Gilyard Jr.

My wife Stefanie knew Chuck in acting class, where he was preparing for his TV role. He was not a large man, about 5’9″ at most, but you knew immediately he was not a guy you messed with. His knuckles were heavily calloused from hitting boards, and other things.
