Tulare County, California Deputy Killed, Suspect Dead
Here is Sheriff Mike Boudreaux of Tulare County, California. He is announcing the death of the suspect who shot and killed a deputy who was serving an eviction notice.
The suspect was prone, dressed in camouflage, firing at officers with a rifle. He was deliberately run over and killed by a BearCat armored vehicle. Before anyone else considers shooting at law-enforcement officers in Tulare County, this incident should make him think twice.
Note that the sheriff might well have been from a county in Texas or Florida. The coastal part of California, including the cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, are deep blue. But much of the rest of the state, including the agricultural Central Valley, is bright red. If California split in two, there would be two more Republican senators. Something to think about as we mourn the deputy, who was a husband and father.
