How To Treat A Hero

Australian war hero Ben Roberts-Smith, VC, arrested on 20-year-old accusations of killing unarmed Afghans. Governor General promises to pardon him if he is convicted, making a trial useless and vindictive.

No identities of purported victims. No statute of limitations. No jurisdiction over supposed crimes committed in other nations. No opportunity to collect exculpatory evidence or find witnesses. Just the necessity to prove a negative.

Oh yes, that’s the English tradition of fair trials, right? How to treat heroes? Spit on them. Progressives aren’t just anti-American. They are anti-Western civilization. Nothing could be clearer.

If Ben Roberts-Smith were a paramedic, his job would be to save people and put things back together. But he was a soldier. His job was to kill people and break things. You know that. So honor him for doing his job exceptionally well. A nation that forgets its heroes deserves to be forgotten itself.
