Tax Day, But Not Tax Freedom Day
This is tax day, April 15, when federal income taxes are due. But it is not tax freedom day, the day when Americans stop working for the government and start working for themselves and their families.
This year, tax freedom day will be April 26. Of course, it varies by state. In high tax states like California, it comes later. But April 26 is the day when average Americans can begin working for themselves.
But wait, you say. Am I claiming that the average American works almost 4 months out of the year for the government? This means that almost one-third of the year, they work for no wages. Yes, that is exactly what I am saying.
Question: What is slavery if not a 100 percent tax rate? A slave works for no wages all year long. We work for no wages almost one-third of the year. Does this mean we are one-third slaves? You tell me.
