“Glow Like An Expectant Widow”

In the old days, when the Mafia put out a hit on someone, they would whack him when he was alone on the street or in his car. They would not kill him in front of his family. Or at least that was the story they told.

But times change. The cartels prefer to kill you in front of your family. In fact, they will kill your family in front of you. The old code of conduct, raggedy though it was, is long gone.

So we descend from the Mafia, to the cartels, to the progressives. That, we hope, is as low as we can get.

So-called comedian Jimmy Kimmel did a monologue just before the White House Correspondents Dinner. After excoriating President Trump, as expected, he referred to First Lady Melania Trump as having a “glow like an expectant widow.” That is, not only did Kimmel hope for the death of the President, but he also implied that Melania would be happy to see him dead.

And then, no surprise at all, a would-be assassin tried to make Kimmel’s dream come true. Correction: He tried to make the progressives’ dream come true.

When Trump contracted Covid, a Democrat politician celebrated. A leading Italian politician had something to say about this revolting development. Let me quote him:

• Italian right-wing opposition leader Matteo Salvini tweeted: “In Italy and in the world, whoever celebrates the illness of a man or of a woman, and who comes to wish the death of a neighbor, confirms what he is: An idiot without soul. A hug to Melania and Donald.”

An idiot without a soul. Couldn’t have said it better.
