Boris Johnson Speaks
X overflows with posts proclaiming “Let’s get rid of Trump” and “Let’s get rid of Israel.” The third assassination attempt (that we know of) has done nothing to mitigate the homicidal hatred of Trump. And 2ooo years of persecution has done nothing to mitigate the homicidal hatred of Jews.
But former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Three Stooges haircut and all, as usual had something to say. Addressing the House of Commons, he declared, “Half of you are anti-Semites.”
The Speaker interrupted, asking Johnson to withdraw the personal attack. Johnson thought for just a few seconds, then replied, “Very well. Half of you are NOT anti-Semites.” Which, of course, meant exactly the same thing.
The Brits train their young people to think on their feet. We would do well to do the same. But Johnson’s wit is quicker than most. I was not his greatest fan. But compared to the current Prime Minister Starmer, he elicits acute nostalgia.
My only criticism is that Johnson underestimated the extent of anti-Semitism. Clearly it affects much more than half. X and other media are filled with eliminationist hatred.
If people hate Blacks or Latinos, it is to keep them out of White neighborhoods. But if they hate Jews, it is to eliminate them. Israel must not be reigned in or shrunk, but erased, deleted. The Final Solution is always waiting in the background, ready to be called upon whenever the hatred reaches the boiling point.
But until then, we can smile with Boris Johnson. A smile is a beautiful thing.
