Horror! White House Renovations
When President Trump ordered the construction of a White House ballroom with private funds, critics screamed that he was a tyrant acting without congressional approval. Courts tried to intervene. Progressives claimed such action was unprecedented.
But in 1948, President Truman ordered the construction of a balcony on the front of the White House, using private funds, but without congressional approval. There was only mild dissent. After all, Truman was a fellow Democrat.
The balcony looks good and has become an integral part of the White House. I predict the ballroom will do the same. To progressives, Trump will remain a frightening tyrant, while Truman was a really nice guy.
