Army vet pushes back after State Dept takes credit for rescue of 4 Americans
So this is the timeline of the train wreck:
- President Biden promises to stay in Afghanistan until all Americans are evacuated.
- President Biden (or whoever is in charge) orders troops out while Americans and friendly Afghans remain.
- Private parties work to evacuate Americans with NO help from US Government.
- US Government actually blocks privately charted aircraft with evacuees from landing.
- State Department takes credit for evacuating 4 Americans, when it only tried to block the men who actually did it.
If an author submitted a novel or a screenplay following these lines, it would be rejected as unrealistic. No one would believe that our government could act in such a faithless, disloyal, dishonest manner. They say truth is stranger than fiction. Sometimes it is also more frightening. If the government (I can no longer say our government) acts so disgracefully in full public view, what could it do in secret?
Trust takes years to build. It can be destroyed in a few days. Our friends no longer trust us. Our enemies no longer fear us. The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is approaching. Have a nice day.
