Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issues proclamation honoring Columbus, while many others vilify the explorer. Of course, the vilification is not meant only for Columbus, but also for the Judeo-Christian civilization he represented, and especially for the USA which would not have been possible without him.
Swimming against the stream is more difficult than just going with the flow. But doing difficult things helps us to develop the intellectual and spiritual muscles we will need to accomplish anything meaningful in life. Going with the flow is much easier, but in the end we are likely to go down the drain.
