Good Luck, Larry Elder! I Admire You, But I Don’t Envy You

• “Even a good man like Larry Elder can’t bail out a state like California as long as a majority of the voters there keep drilling holes in the boat.”

• You couldn’t fix something that was intent on staying broken. – Brad Thor

• There is nothing more dangerous in all the world than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. – Martin Luther King Jr.

No matter how well-intentioned and competent a leader may be, he still can accomplish little if the people he is attempting to lead remain wedded to impractical, destructive ideas. Those are the California voters who elected super-majorities of liberal Democrats to both houses of the legislature. As a result, every statewide office is filled by Democrats.

We talk about capitalism and socialism. We talk about various forms of government. But in both economics and politics, we are talking about systems of organizing…what? People. Human beings are the building blocks of all these systems.

You want to build your dream house? You hire the best architect and get a beautiful design. You hire the best contractor and get reliable workers. But if they use poorly made bricks, the beautiful structure will soon begin to crumble.

It’s the same in politics and economics. It’s the same in California. I respect Larry Elder, most of all because he is willing to undertake a job that will be difficult to the point of impossibility. Can you see how the legislature will refuse to enact any part of his agenda? Can you see how officials will try to obstruct anything he suggests? Can you see how voters will feel uncomfortable when they hear ideas not in accord with the leftism to which they have been accustomed by schools that indoctrinate and media that propagandize?

Good luck, Larry! I admire you. But I don’t envy you.
