White House weighs in on police shooting of 16-year-old Black girl, referring to police violence and racism. Breaking news: Girl in pink who was split second from being stabbed, perhaps fatally, was also Black.

If police had just stood there yelling “Drop the knife!” while the girl in pink was stabbed, THEN they could be accused of indifference to Black lives. But in fact, the police saved girl in pink from serious injury, quite possibly disabling or fatal. Those who defend the knife-wielding teen are, in effect, siding with the attacker and against the victim – an odd position for those who claim to be humanitarians. They are saying, in effect: “The life of the girl in pink is worth little or nothing to us, because if we allow her to be killed, no one will demonstrate for her.” How indescribably sad.
