Many people continue to vote Democrat out of habit until a family member or neighbor ends up in a body bag. Only then, when things get really bad, do they elect a law-and-order mayor and DA. People forget that Rudy lost the first time he ran for NYC mayor. Things weren’t bad enough yet. Only when crime and homelessness became intolerable did they elect Giuliani mayor, and he appointed Bill Bratton police commissioner. Sad but true: People have to die to make us change our habits.
