Ever wonder why “news” papers and TV gurus always seem to take the side of the elite and ignore ordinary people’s concerns? As this book shows, reporters used to come from working-class or middle-class families. They went to local colleges or none at all. They identified with where they come from.

But then they became journalists. The top ones now often come from wealthy families and attended top journalism schools. They also identify with where they came from: the elite or would-be elite. Does inflation cause prices of food and fuel to rise sharply? No problem, it will curb global warming. But will it? It surely will cause working-class families to skimp on home heating this winter, and skip on food as well. But the spokespersons for the elite hardly notice.
