If I were hired as a firearms expert on a movie set, and my job was to assure that guns were handled safely, I would understand that for me to admit I had “no idea” where the live rounds came from would be at least an admission of total incompetence, and at worst an admission of gross negligence.
If I were the mayor of New York, Los Angeles, or another large city, and vaccine mandates were causing severe shortages of nurses, medical techs, police, firefighters, and paramedics, I would understand that to admit my surprise would be at least an admission of total incompetence, and at worst an admission of gross negligence.
“I had no idea they would all quit” is regrettably similar to “I have no idea where the live rounds came from.” In both cases, it is self-incriminating.
