Welcome to Murderville, USA. Twelve cities have already set records for the number of murders in 2021 and the year isn’t even over yet. What is going on here?

“Nobody’s getting arrested anymore,” Robert Boyce, retired chief of detectives for the New York Police Department said. “People are getting picked up for gun possession and they’re just let out over and over again.” Note: the most vicious anti-gun cities are not prosecuting gun violence. Chew on that.

No one but a dedicated progressive can still believe that arresting fewer offenders, and letting convicted criminals out of jail, could possibly have any effect other than increasing crime, both violent and property crime. Fanatical DAs, like those in San Francisco and Los Angeles, may still claim that their lax enforcement policies are not causing surges in crime, but no one really believes them. Like government propaganda in the Soviet Union, you don’t have to believe it, you just have to parrot it like a good little obedient subject.

But what about the victims of murder, rape, armed robbery, carjacking, and looting? What about families that are bereaved and impoverished? Aren’t they the “little guys” whom progressives claim to represent? In fact, progressives represent the wealthy, over-educated elite, who live in gated communities and work (if they work at all) in security buildings. What the working class and minorities have to endure is of no more interest to progressive media than what is happening on the backside of the moon.

At some point, which will be obvious only in retrospect, crime will become so severe that either society will break down entirely, or people will take matters into their own hands and form armed patrols. And then progressives will be out of power and out of luck. But no one will have time to gloat. We’ll be too busy just staying alive.
