Pointing The Way

Pointing The Way
This may be wishful thinking. I’ve done that before. But I think this may be a turning point. Only time will tell.
.
Caitlin Clark’s stoical endurance of repeated physical and emotional abuse, while authorities looked on apathetically, was inspiring to us all. But let’s be honest. The suffering hero is not a role model we want to emulate.
.
Enter Sophie Cunningham. She suffered too. She was clipped, suffered a ruptured medial collateral ligament, and was out for the season for surgery and rehab. But suffering is not her strong point, pardon the pun. Winning is. The video of her pointing at the wrongdoers has become a meme.
.
Are we like Sophie? Are we also fed up with just taking it? Are we sick and tired of media, judges, and pundits who take anyone’s side but ours? Do we refuse to take any more abuse?
.
Were churches closed during Covid, but strip clubs and bars stayed open? Were Christians forbidden to pray outside abortion clinics, but Muslims could block streets?
.
No more. Like Sophie, we’re pointing. And if those who made the mess don’t clean it up, we will. We have the role models we need. Caitlin to teach us steadfastness, and Sophie to point the way.
