John Fetterman is a US senator from Pennsylvania. Aside from being 6’8″ he gained fame by having a serious stroke, being hospitalized for depression, and appearing in the senate in casual, not to say sloppy, clothes. In short, he is not a person I would look to as a source of wisdom. But I would be wrong.

Fetterman:”If we want peace, Israel needs to be able to destroy Hamas.”

This is hardly a brilliant insight. The avowed aim of Hamas is to destroy Israel and kill all its Jewish citizens. How do you achieve a compromise with people who want to kill all of you? Let them kill half of you? No, it’s just common sense. So why do the brilliant foreign policy wonks of government and academia fail to grasp this obvious truth, while a seriously depressed stroke victim understands it perfectly? Dennis Prager asserts that college and especially graduate school make you stupid. I though this was hyperbole. It isn’t.
