Texas Governor Greg Abbott orders barbed wire barriers on border in response to deluge of undocumented migrants. Biden orders federal agents to cut and remove the wire, which they do while ushering migrants in. Abbott orders the wire replaced. Conflict, possibly armed, seems inevitable.

Under the Constitution, federal law is supreme over state law. But this assumes that federal officials are actually carrying out federal law, not evading and impeding it. We might recall that the federal government is a creation of the states, not vice versa. The states came first. The current situation implies that the creation has the right to cause the invasion of what created it – and thereby to murder its parents. What the federal government is doing on our southern border is patricide.
