Claim: Majority of Democrats say that if Trump wins, Congress should refuse to certify the election, thus shirking their constitutional duty.

But wait. Isn’t this exactly what the Jan. 6 crowd wanted? No, this is even worse. In the “greatest threat to our democracy since the Civil War,” the crowd claimed that there were too many election irregularities, so Congress should refuse to certify Biden’s election.

Here, on the contrary, many Democrats say that even if Trump legitimately wins, Congress should still refuse to certify his election. This would abolish the Constitution, which may be the real objective. It would place the election of the president in the hands of Congress, not the people where it is now. In effect, it would establish a parliamentary form of government, which our founders expressly rejected. It would make the president work for Congress and be subservient to it, rather than coequal as things stand now.

No one who proposes this radical change in our form of government has any right to condemn the Jan. 6 demonstrators, much less to imprison them for years. You enjoy destroying things? Get a job with a demolition contractor, but keep your filthy hands off my country.
