In a game against New York, Caitlin Clark approaches a defender, falls down, and grabs her ear. The announcer says she didn’t see contact, and commenters are almost unanimous in accusing Clark of “flopping,” that is, feigning an injury.

But then videos showed blood in her left ear canal, and she was diagnosed with a ruptured eardrum. Perhaps the critics thought it ruptured itself. Note that an eardrum ruptured by a blow may be associated with a traumatic brain injury. I don’t recall Clark undergoing a concussion protocol. Do you?

It is one thing to “welcome” a rookie in a rough way. It is another to ignore the rules of player safety.

While addressing a rally in Pennsylvania, former President Trump is struck by a rifle bullet in his right ear. Obviously, he was an inch or two from death. Obviously, many leftists were disappointed that the would-be assassin’s aim was a bit off. But for years Trump has been depicted as Hitler and his followers as Nazis, so it is hardly surprising that someone took a shot at him. What is surprising is that it didn’t happen sooner.

Look at the long list of horrors leftists predict will accompany a Trump presidency. Then tell me why, if you actually believe this horse dung, you are not morally obligated to stop Trump by “any means necessary.”

The first bloody ear tells us that sports rivalry may reach dangerous proportions. It also tells us that jealousy may overcome the human emotions of empathy and compassion. If a 22-year-old woman with a bloody ear doesn’t affect you, perhaps you should check yourself for a heartbeat.

The second bloody ear tells us that lies cause much of the evil in this world, including homicidal violence. Those who spread lies will have to answer for it, in this world or the next.
