Some time ago, a trans MMA fighter sent his/her opponent to the hospital with multiple facial fractures and a concussion. Much discussion ensued about forcing biological females to compete against biological males. But that’s all that ensued: discussion. Yes, a female volleyball competitor got a concussion from being hit in the head by a biological male player’s serve. But the problem is more acute in martial arts.
In the current Olympics, a female boxer quit after 46 seconds after being hit in the face by a biological male competitor. The Italian woman was wise enough to avoid a traumatic brain injury, possibly permanent, conceivably fatal. True, serious injuries are an unfortunate part of sports. If a runner loses focus for a half second, he may wind up with a silver instead of a gold. But if a gymnast loses focus for a half second, she may land on her head and wind up a quadriplegic.
At the very least, we can do more to prevent serious injuries in martial arts. Ronda Rousey retired from MMA at age 29 after suffering two knockouts. But she revealed that what decided the matter were the repeated concussions she received during her Olympic bronze judo career. Judo does not involve striking, but it does involve being thrown onto a thin mat, which is enough to produce concussions.
Being punched in the head clearly can cause concussions. One might say that is the purpose. If you can’t see something seriously wrong with men fighting women, there is something seriously wrong with you. As Ronda Rousey said, “A man should never hit a woman.” You disagree? I really don’t want anything to do with you. You are amoral, potentially dangerous, and almost surely vote Democrat.
