You suspected they were doing it. Now you know:
Last year, National Association of Scholars reported that University of Washington utilized race as a major factor in hiring decisions. John D. Sailer initially unearthed the scandal surrounding the Department of Psychology’s Diversity Advisory Committee through public records requests, and revealed that they “pressured one hiring committee to re-rank finalist candidates on the basis of race.”
Well, let’s see. Universities receive taxpayer funds, especially state universities. They are legally and morally obligated to treat all student and faculty applicants fairly. When you send your kids to a university, you expect – no, demand – that they be taught by the best professors available.
Or did I get this wrong? Are universities like fraternities and sororities used to be, restricted by race and other irrelevant factors? When I went to UC Berkeley years ago, there were Christian fraternities and sororities, and Jewish ones. Of course, Black, Hispanic, and Asian students joined the Jewish fraternities and sororities. Might we see some gratitude, please?
I thought all this garbage was a thing of the past. Some of the fraternities and sororities had to rent out rooms to stay in business, and others closed entirely. Good riddance, I thought.
But I guess I was wrong. What the social clubs stopped doing, the universities themselves began doing. How deeply ironic. But how incredibly sad. If institutions of higher learning become infected with racism, what hope is there for us ordinary folks?
Either pick the best, insofar as your judgment allows you to see the best, or just forget the whole thing and become trade schools. Admitting students and hiring faculty determined by race? Been there, done that. It didn’t end well.
