U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D,OH) replaced the word “woman” with “person” in a pregnancy health bill, apparently under the delusion that men can become pregnant. Once again we run up against the uncomfortable fact that leftist politicians and academics claim to be unable to say what a woman is.

But with the current controversy about what is going on in the small town of Springfield, Ohio, this raises a distressing question. Senator Brown represents the people of Springfield, who are struggling to deal with hundreds of undocumented migrants from Haiti, with whom they were gifted by the federal government.

Partially documented accusations charge that some of the migrants are killing pet cats and dogs, either to eat them or to use them in voodoo rituals. But if leftists cannot define “woman,” can they define “cat.” Must we hold congressional hearings, where politicians and academics admit without shame that just as they cannot define “woman,” neither can they define “cat”?

Our formerly proud nation is fast becoming a laughingstock in the world. Must we stand by idly while the process is completed? Must the cats of Springfield continue their escape attempts?
