Trump Dares the Senate to Vote Down Matt Gaetz

Tulsi Gabbard Is an Awkward Fit with This Administration

Yes, National Review is the magazine founded by conservative icon William F. Buckley. Now it is largely a website. From his first appearance on the political scene, it has remained staunchly anti-Trump. During the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections, it seemed to prefer that his Democrat opponents would win.

As these articles show, the editors have not changed their perspective one iota, despite Trump’s historic win. In accord with this bias, let us imagine other, similar articles that might appear in its august pages:

• Trump announces cancer cure. Lack of medical license raises legal concerns.

• Trump walks on water. Why can’t he swim?

• Trump heals a blind man. Diagnosis challenged because man has a drivers license as an undocumented migrant.

• Trump feeds hundreds with a few loaves and some fish. Restaurant workers fear job loss.

• Trump raises man from dead. Questions asked because man already voted in 2020 and 2024 elections.

We could go on, but you get my point. Republican never-Trumpers are just as fanatic and closed-minded as progressives. Maybe more so. They want to have conservatism without Trump. Why not? they argue. We already have Christianity without Jesus and Judaism without Israel. They don’t amount to much, but at least they exist – more or less.
