My “No Watch” List

The government has a “no fly” list, designed to keep dangerous or otherwise undesirable people off airliners. Whether this purpose is achieved is another question, but the motive is a good one. In a similar effort, I have a “no watch” list, designed to keep me from supporting, even indirectly, material and broadcasters I believe are dangerous or otherwise undesirable. Two examples:

• “The View.” Years ago a well-known Hollywood personality was accused of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl. The accused claimed the girl was willing and enjoyed the proceedings, just as many child molesters claim. Before sentencing, he fled and has yet to be punished.

The women of “The View” commented on this disgusting case, but not all were disgusted. Whoopi Goldberg allowed as how sex with a drugged 13-year-old was wrong, but it was “not rape-rape.” Legally it was. Morally it was. But to Whoopi, it was something else, something less, something worth not years in prison, not a severe beating,  but a shrug of the shoulders.

At this  point I stopped watching “The View.” Trivializing child molestation was just a bit too much for me.

• “MSNBC.” Laken Riley was a 21-year-old nursing student in Georgia. While jogging she was attacked by an illegal alien who had come through our border that Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas declared was “secure.”

Secure for the criminal, but not for his victim. He should have been stopped at the border. He wasn’t. He should have been deported. He wasn’t. If that is “secure,” what would insecure look like?

The offender attempted to rape the young woman, but she resisted, with his skin under her fingernails. So he beat her to death, apparently with a rock. He was sentenced to life without parole, because the district attorney opposed the death penalty.

Unhappy with this outcome, MSNBC opined that the murderer “never stood a chance.” But did Laken Riley stand a chance? They didn’t ask. The public outcry was so strong that MSNBC changed the headline to state that there never was a question about his guilt – something else entirely.

At this point I stopped watching MSNBC. Showing more sympathy for the murderer than for his victim was a bit too much for me.

Raping a drugged 13-year-old isn’t really rape? Murderers of young women deserve our sympathy? And the spreaders of this stinking manure call themselves progressives and feminists? What a bitter joke.

The purveyors of these fetid excretions will have to get along without my patronage. So when I look in the mirror, I can say, “I may not be an exemplary citizen, but at least I don’t help spread evil.” Because that is exactly what this is. Not just another point of view. Not only another opinion. But actual evil.

Our American statue of Lady Justice is blindfolded, so as not to be biased. She holds scales in one hand and a sheathed sword in the other. But the British statue of Lady Justice above the Criminal Courts is not blindfolded, so as to see the victim clearly. She too holds scales, but a drawn sword in her right hand, as if to say, “Be careful, I’m deadly serious.” I prefer their version.
