LAFD Leadership Under Scrutiny

Los Angeles Fire Chief declares that water in fire hydrants is not her responsibility, so she was unaware the large reservoir in Pacific Palisades was off line and empty. Perhaps she should watch “Chicago Fire,” where firefighters inspect hydrants regularly. This is equivalent to the Police Chief saying it is not his fault that officers’ weapons are empty, and he did not know that no ammunition is available at police stations.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Fire Chief states that whether she can carry a man out of a burning building is not important, because he got himself into that situation. No, Deputy Chief, it is important. I know. Firefighters once pulled me out of a wrecked car. And to prove it to you, we can carry the Chief and you out of your cushy offices and into early retirement.

This whole mess reminds me of the WNBA. Leading player Caitlin Clark was poked in the eye hard enough to give her a black eye, and hit in the head hard enough to rupture her eardrum. Yet in neither case was a foul called, a medical check given, or a concussion protocol followed. The top level of the LAFD, like most of the WNBA, is lesbian. That is no problem. The problem is that it appears to be more important than competence.

In the WNBA, this can bankrupt the league. In the LAFD, it can kill people and destroy a whole neighborhood. The moment anything – anything – is more important than competence, we are in deep poo poo. Mierda. Merde. Scheissdreck. Gavno.
