Norway Refuses To Refuel US Navy Ships

Report: Norwegian fuel company, apparently the principal one in Norway, refuses to refuel US Navy ships because of the Trump-Zelinsky argument in the Oval Office. That is, NOT because of American actions, but merely because of President Trump’s words, a NATO ally refuses to act like a NATO ally.

“We don’t like how your president talks” is not a valid reason to deny fuel to Navy ships. In a crucial situation, this could cost American lives. In what sense, then, are we actually allies? If we don’t like how the Norwegian prime minister talks, can we refuse help if Russia invades Norway? Think about that, Mr. Fuel Company CEO.

Let’s be frank. If not for America, Norwegians would be speaking German, and their leader would not be the king but der Führer. As Alexandre Dumas said, “Some services are so great that they can be repaid only with ingratitude.”

Regrettably, Europe including the UK are examples of this proverb. The US spends more on defense than they do. We provide a defense umbrella, so the rest of NATO can spend more on building socialist paradises. This is questionable. But refusing to refuel our warships because they don’t like our President’s tone? That is intolerable. And Trump may not be in the mood to tolerate it. Stay tuned.
