Hegseth: “I Want To Be Very Clear”

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visits Panama Canal, says he wants to be very clear. He achieved his aim. Diplomats typically speak in euphemisms and complex locutions, in an effort to obscure the meaning and blunt the impact. Then they can defuse criticism by claiming, “That’s not what I said.”

Whatever words you may use to describe Pete Hegseth, “diplomat” is not among them.

“I want to be very clear. China did not build this canal. China does not operate this canal, and China will not weaponize this canal.”
