Paris Riots

Paris: At least 2 dead, 1 police officer with critical head injury, hundreds arrested as riots sweep city, overwhelm police. Many rioters, but surely not all, appear to be from North Africa or the Middle East. You want to see an insurrection? Look here, not at the 2 to 3 hour unarmed, undeclared riot at our Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

The ostensible cause of the riots was Paris’s victory in soccer over Milan. Exactly why a sports victory justifies looting stores,  burning cars, assaulting police, and killing people is not clear.

But what is clear is that President Emmanuel “Slappy Face” Macron has as little control over the streets of his capital city as he has over his wife. Weakness evokes violence, in the home, in the school yard, in the city, and in the world. If history teaches anything, it teaches this. It is long past time we learned this painful lesson.

Whether Macron can regain control using the police, or whether calling out the army may be necessary, remains to be seen. And even then, it remains doubtful that any of the tanks will be functional. The money was diverted from national defense to providing freebies to hostile immigrants. File under S for Suicidal.

We must stop saying “How stupid can you get?” Some people take it as a challenge.
