Son Of Late Shah: Iranian Revolution Collapsing

Exiled son of late Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi:

“The Islamic Republic has come to its end and is collapsing. What has begun is irreversible. The future is bright, and together we will turn the page of history. Now is the time to stand up; the time to reclaim Iran. May I be with you soon.”

Is this merely wishful thinking? Is this the ramblings of a man who hopes to reclaim his father’s throne? Or is it the considered opinion of someone who knows as much about Iran as anyone alive? At least we can hope.

During my training, I knew two female physicians who were educated in Iran. They were highly competent, good teachers, and completely modern. I cannot imagine them being forced to wear hijabs. They were fortunate to have left Iran before the Islamist revolution that ousted the shah and installed the ayatollahs. But what about all the millions of other women who remained and were destined for decades of oppression?

Iran is a great country with a civilization covering two and one-half millennia. It’s 90 million people are educated and productive, or at least they were until the Islamists attempted to return the nation to the seventh century. May Pahlavi’s words prove prophetic. Iranians should reclaim their place on the world stage.
