Thought It Was Bad? It’s Worse.
Bad as crime statistics are in our major cities, things are actually even worse. A whistleblower reveals that crime statistics in Washington, D.C. have been manipulated to make them seem less threatening. For example, some homicides have been reclassified as accidents, while some felony assaults have been downgraded to misdemeanors.
Do you imagine, in your wildest dreams, that this fudging of crime data is not occurring in other cities, especially in crime-ridden blue cities?
There is an old legal maxim: “Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus.” Once you are caught in a lie, we are entitled to disbelieve everything you say. You are worthless as a witness. During Covid we were told that it was a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
We were reassured that if we got the vaccine and all the boosters, it was almost impossible for us to contract the disease or spread it. We were warned not to treat Covid early, but to wait till we couldn’t breathe and then go on a ventilator. We were told that ivermectin is a “horse dewormer.”
After that huge slice of baloney, we should have known to look askance at crime data.
Homicides are accidents? Assault with a deadly weapon is just simple assault? Democrat run cities are safer than ever? National Guard troops are not needed? Rampant street crime, homeless encampments, piles of trash, human waste and needles for kids to step on? No problem. A few keystrokes, and it all looks so much better. Who knew?
Statistics tell a lot, assuming we can trust them. But to get the full story on crime, we have to talk to individual victims, especially women, minorities, and the elderly. They are the ones who greet National Guard troops most warmly. Perhaps there is a lesson here.
