Yom Kippur War

As we approach Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, we recall the war of 1973. Israel came within days of destruction, and was saved only by  a resupply ordered by President Nixon. This fact was confirmed in the autobiographies of both Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan, but it is ignored by many people. They point to Nixon’s anti-Semitic remarks. But as with all of us, his actions spoke louder than his words.

As social media are flooded with anti-Israel and frankly anti-Semitic vitriol, we cannot help but wonder what new attacks this Yom Kippur may bring. We pray that synagogues will be well guarded, and Israelis will be alert. But stay tuned. It’s a dangerous world.
